Rubber Trouble Asian Joss Paper
Joss paper is used in some Asian rituals and holiday observances, and sometimes for Feng Shui. In the Western world, Joss paper is frequently used for collage and bookmaking. (To some people it has a religious significance, so please treat it with respect.)
The paper itself is a thin, rough paper (usually rice paper), often with metallic leaf attached. Sometimes the paper is block printed.
Almost all Joss paper has a handmade feel to it, with many variances and imperfections. This is part of what makes the paper so interesting and beautiful.
Joss Paper Assortment 1 (order below)
This package contains two kinds of Joss paper, both pictured here. You will receive 10 sheets of each kind of paper.
The first style has metallic leaf in the center of the page with orange coloring that makes the metal leaf look like gold. (The orange coloring is just brushed right over the top of the page and you can see it clearly in the illustration here.) Printed over the leaf is a red block print with Chinese writing and patterns.
The gold leaf is not always centered perfectly on the red block print, and the block print is often not perfectly printed, either. But this is part of the charm of this paper.
The second style has two pieces of metallic leaf on the page. One side has the orange coloring that makes the metal leaf look like gold. The other side is left uncolored, so the leaf is silver in color.
Joss Paper Assortment 2 (order below)
This package contains five different kinds of Joss paper, pictured below. You will receive 1 sheet of each kind of paper.
The paper in the center of the picture has metallic leaf in the center of the page with orange coloring that makes the metal leaf look like gold. (The orange coloring is just brushed right over the top of the page and you can see it clearly in the illustration here.) Printed over the leaf is a red block print with Chinese writing and patterns.
On the upper right and lower left of the picture, are two sheets with red ink with Chinese characters block-printed on thin yellow paper. This paper usually has a hole and some folds. This is the way that it comes from the factory. The folds and holes are intentional.
Last but not least, you get some genuine "Hell Banknotes," two different styles. One is in full color, as pictured on the left.
